Lowe’s and Home Depot, both. It also sucks when you finally do find someone and ask where to find X and they have no idea what you’re talking about and then say “I had no idea we had that,” when you finally find it.
Plus side, though? Someone at the paint department of my local Lowe’s is awesome. They have a little chalkboard there where they write the week’s specials. Last time I went, someone had drawn a really kick ass direwolf on it.

Speaking of unable to get any customer service, I tried to test drive a BMW 328i today. I say tried because all my efforts to drive the car were thwarted by the inane dealership
I looked up the exact car I wanted to test drive online (328i with sport package) and I called the dealer asking if I could come in and drive that exact car. I gave them the stock number and they verified they had the car and that, yes, I could come in an drive it. We set up an appointment an hour and half later, I show up on time and of course, they haven’t pulled the car off the lot and have to call the attendant to go find it. The sales guy seemed like he a million other things to do and disappeared. 5 minutes go by with me sitting there by myself, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes and still no salesman.
Frustrated, I got up and walked out and went straight to the Lexus dealership. What a 180! Nice people, super low pressure sales, what a different experience! I didn’t buy a Lexus, but the ES350 drives like a dream.
God help you if need help in Lowes. I remember standing there in the checkout line and someone in the flooring section just keep hitting service button over and over again. It was pretty funny after a while. The computerized voice that goes off when you press the help button kept blaring out “Customer Service in the Flooring Section. Customer Service in the Flooring Section”. All of us standing in line starting looking at each other and chuckling with the quiet understanding the poor bastard was stranded in flooring like a plane crash victim on a deserted island. No help was coming.......

Ugh I used to go to Lowe’s because I could actually find employees to help me there unlike Home Depot. Sadly, it seems they are both lacking in that regard now.

I would have expected the BMW dealership to have a 1.5 psi lower pressure experience than the Lexus. I’ll see myself out.
The best part about the Lowes or Home Despot experience is that people seem to go there for fun.

I don’t work at either, but I do work for a supermarket chain that has over 10,000 employees........labor is the easy and quick to cut dollars to make budget.
Long term, it’s the smartest thing to do.....what do I know, I’ve only been a dept manager for 40 years.

Oh and the person checking out the people ahead of us literally took 20 minutes.

That was always my experience. When I lived in California, we had a Lowe’s next to a Home Depot. The HD was trash compared to our Lowe’s. Very good customer service, very clean store, overall great place to shop. In Washington it seems to be the other way around. We have a horrible Lowe’s and an okay Home Depot.
I guess it’s time to shop at Ace.
